Working With Partners

Our partners are crucial to a culture of employability within the college and delivering a curriculum which is directed towards independence and paid work outcomes.

We work with employers on a number of levels with paid work outcomes achieved mainly through the delivery of supported internships – a programme the college has developed in partnership with regional employers since 2014.

Supported internships enable young people to gain experience within a maintained environment at an employer’s workplace. They provide a platform for young people to achieve sustainable employment by equipping them with the skills they need for work through learning in the workplace.

Our programmes are successful thanks to the huge support from the organisations we work with and the college has developed partnerships with employers who are completely behind the supported internship concept and are keen to improve the diversity of their workforce and challenge existing recruitment practises.  

We provide support to our employers through relevant training to help raise the raise the profile of disabilities within their businesses and run disability awareness courses for all of our supported internship partners to enable them to support the young people they are working alongside more effectively.
